California cabin trip

We had fun playing in both the ocean water and the lake water on our little excursion to California for David's wedding, we spent one afternoon at he beach, it looks
cold but really it was just foggy over the beach and warm blue sky everywhere else, so it was fairly warm (the water was a bit chilly though).
Another day we went to Pine Crest Resevoir, close to the cabin, the water was nice and the scenery beautiful. All and all, we had a great time!

Becky and Mark Canoe Trip

On behalf of Mark and Becky, I am posting some of their canoing pictures. It looks like tons of fun, and what a beautiful place! We will have to get some more info about the trip from them.

Mark's even got a twinkle in his eye.

I suppose I should explain a bit, after sending you a bunch of strange pictures. Mark and I went canoeing with Mark's college roommates, Mike and Tim Porter, and Dave Pace. Dave's brother, Mike was also there, along with a friend of his from his ward, Rick, and Rick's two boys.
Yes, I was the only female. The trip was actually very nice, although paddling is harder than it looks! I wasn't sure how it would go with all the guys in charge (menu?), but they all behaved themselves, and the food was good, and I didn't even have to cook! We went up to the
Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. The picture of Mike, Tim, Dave, Mark and I is actually in Canada. One side of the lake is the U.S., and the other is Canada. We only went in about 10 feet, to have a picnic lunch. No sign of boarder patrol. The video on the website is of
Mark's friend Dave intentionally "riding the rapids" of the falls that were right there at the boarder. I think he ended up with a few bruises. It felt very peaceful and secluded up there, since you need a permit to go in, and they only issue so many. Mark has been up there
the last two years, also. Dave's older brother, Mike, lives in Minnesota, and organizes most of it -it's mostly a Pace family tradition, but Mark has really enjoyed it, and this was the first year I
agreed to go along. We got back late the night before school started, so that was a bit hectic, but it turned out ok. The kids stayed in Price with Mark's parents until the day before we got back, when his mom brought them up and stayed overnight with them.

Here's links to more pictures and an entertaining video.

In Iowa

Hi Family, I think I am getting this. These photos are of us at the Sidney Rodeo, and Nancy and Perry at the Iowa home just before we drove away with the loaded truck. I'm waiting for Syd to add one of Marla's reception, dress and cake, just for fun. How is "back to school"going for everyone? Also, what should we plan for next weekend, being Labor day? I will try to get a picture, worth sending, of the new wall going up in the front yard. Love to all, Mom

Love at Hill Cumorah

Mom, Dad, Hannah and Brad stopped at Hill Cumorah while in NY. It was very green and we were almost the only ones there. We really did have a fun trip moving out to NY. Now we are settled and waiting for school to get hard. Hannah is going to start working at a Day Care Center while she looks for other jobs and tries to keep Brad fed and happy. We look forward to pictures of your adventures as well as news to keep us up to date. Love you all!

Welcome

Welcome to the Carter Family Blog! This is a trial run. We might delete this one and give it to mom so she can be in charge. We all need google accounts for it to work, what do you guy's think? If you have another address that you want me to invite so you can post from there (such as a google account that I didn't know about) just let me know and I'll invite you through that one. I think this could be a really fun, easy way to share pictures and news. If you have any suggestions on formats let me know and I'll see what i can do.
