Becky and Mark Canoe Trip

On behalf of Mark and Becky, I am posting some of their canoing pictures. It looks like tons of fun, and what a beautiful place! We will have to get some more info about the trip from them.

Mark's even got a twinkle in his eye.

I suppose I should explain a bit, after sending you a bunch of strange pictures. Mark and I went canoeing with Mark's college roommates, Mike and Tim Porter, and Dave Pace. Dave's brother, Mike was also there, along with a friend of his from his ward, Rick, and Rick's two boys.
Yes, I was the only female. The trip was actually very nice, although paddling is harder than it looks! I wasn't sure how it would go with all the guys in charge (menu?), but they all behaved themselves, and the food was good, and I didn't even have to cook! We went up to the
Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. The picture of Mike, Tim, Dave, Mark and I is actually in Canada. One side of the lake is the U.S., and the other is Canada. We only went in about 10 feet, to have a picnic lunch. No sign of boarder patrol. The video on the website is of
Mark's friend Dave intentionally "riding the rapids" of the falls that were right there at the boarder. I think he ended up with a few bruises. It felt very peaceful and secluded up there, since you need a permit to go in, and they only issue so many. Mark has been up there
the last two years, also. Dave's older brother, Mike, lives in Minnesota, and organizes most of it -it's mostly a Pace family tradition, but Mark has really enjoyed it, and this was the first year I
agreed to go along. We got back late the night before school started, so that was a bit hectic, but it turned out ok. The kids stayed in Price with Mark's parents until the day before we got back, when his mom brought them up and stayed overnight with them.

Here's links to more pictures and an entertaining video.
